“Be thankful for all you have.”
What does it mean to be thankful and why should you be thankful for what you do have at the moment? There are so many different thoughts that people have on gratitude, but most common are “I don’t know how to be thankful.” But according to Theological Dictionary, those who are thankful are happy.
“Happiness is a state of mind when you feel more than what you might actually have. Happy people are the happiest people to exist. The first person I want to be is a grateful person. In my work I have been given a lot. And the thing is that I am thankful.” (God Bless You)
As we progress, our feelings change and our world around us changes. As we become older they change too. When we’re young, our world is very small. This doesn’t really exist anymore. The world is a much bigger place when we get older. Our world is no longer this tiny little area, but it isn’t as big anymore. Things change every day. A simple text message will tell you who lives next door from you. Or things can change the next second. There are so many things that happen next minute that we don’t notice because we have become used to them. Our brain has developed a new ability to process things faster. Even though things aren’t always perfect all the time, they are still going to try to please you.
When we are young we like to believe that those things are all perfect, but when we grow we realize that there are many flaws. Not everything that seems perfect is perfect and it will never be perfect. Although things are imperfect there is also a chance for perfection. So we do need to be thankful for all things we have at the moment. People grow old, the children change, their families grow apart, health changes. They all happen. So while we can only have one heart, two legs, two eyes as well as three life-sources at any given time, we can get a closer look at our daily things.
There is always something that we need in our lives so we can achieve more and live a happier life. When we see the things we have, the things that we can give to others then we are able to show gratitude. Being humble is very important. For example, if you give your kids your clothes that don’t fit them then you are giving them something they need. We need to show the family or ourselves that we care about others and what they need. Showing them that even though people’s clothes don’t match the dress code right now, there is something in them for them. Giving them a smile can boost their spirits so we need to give ourselves the same treatment as well. No matter if you’re doing anything else, or just doing your job, being grateful for what you have at the moment is important. Letting others know that at least now you’re kind of happy for yourself shows them that you care about themselves.
When you’ve learned to love yourself, you’ll be able to be kind to others. Once someone sees you happy they want to feel it more. They want to feel loved by you and want to be happy. Having a loving family is good but being happy and showing those around you just how much you care can lead to a higher outcome. You are able to accomplish great things when you’ve shown everyone else you care.
When someone is unhappy with their life, showing them how happy you are, even having someone to talk to can help push them out of the depression. You can be happy no matter what happens in life. A wise man once said, “If you don’t stop doing things, things will continue to happen.” Being thankful can make a difference in someone's life. Letting them know that at least now that they’re with you they feel happy and loved. Because if they aren’t happy being with you now, they may not be happy at all. Showing them that they are loved and appreciated is a great feeling. Allowing them to be happy means that you care about them. The feeling of having a sense of belonging makes people happier. Knowing that somebody loves you and knows your story is really helpful. Making those around you feel cared for at home is very beneficial as well because you want to show them that you care about them as a person.
Another reason to give thanks is to let them know that you care about them. Another simple action that makes someone happy is just looking out for their wellbeing. When we get older people want to age in peace. As time passes they can become depressed, they can want to go back to their past, and let go of the past. We can let them know that they aren’t alone and if they’re struggling let them know that they don’t have to be alone. You may not always know what tomorrow will bring but giving them some time to think about what they need, what they should do is very helpful. They are able to get through hard times, but they can also feel much happier when they can find a small bit of joy while they’re going through a rough time.
We all have regrets from the past, but we can allow ourselves to remember what we wanted from the past. For instance, if you’re angry at someone, you can ask yourself why is that. Why did you say that to that person? What is you trying to say to them? If you’re sad then it would mean that you got upset from the situation you were in. This can mean that you’re unhappy. But we can only learn from these situations if we’re ready to learn from them. Make the time to apologize to your spouse or child and say what you didn’t say as you did or make the effort to rectify what you did wrong. No one wants anyone to be hurt or angry again. Sometimes saying it out will be easier rather than apologizing. This is what allows you to live in the present. Live for today. Use your time wisely and live your dreams. Be thankful. Showing someone just how much you’re thankful for what they’ve been through can help that person push through their sadness. Just show them that you’re sorry and that you’re trying to be a better person. Remembering regrets from the past is important. Reminding someone that even though this isn’t the end you still care about them allows them to move past their sadness into motivation and focus on moving forward. We can remind the person how much they loved you and don’t forget about the things you’ve done to them. Life is full of ups and downs but we need to keep reminding ourselves on the things we’re happy about. If you want to enjoy your days and making others happy is something you’d like to accomplish, then give yourself permission to not be perfect, and enjoy every moment.
Giving back can be as simple as helping a friend or family member out. Any simple act like this can make someone else’s day. Helping people can be as big as giving someone else a compliment or a compliment. Even though we receive our own advice on how we should do things, we can’t just live up to someone else’s standards. We need to listen to others and do what they ask. Everyone deserves to be happy within their own environment. Don't let people shame you for being content and not living your dream. If you want happiness and not that, then you can give yourself permission, or even pray to have an angel come into your house and remind you that you deserve all the things you want in life. Keep fighting until you reach what you want. Believe in yourself and your abilities when you fall down. Trust me when I say that God is willing to show himself to whoever he wills. You can still do anything you set your mind on.
A lot of things in life require hard work and effort, which sometimes is hard enough. One of the best parts about working hard and getting things done is making people happy! Whether it is for something tangible or metaphorical, being good at what you do is fulfilling and it brings others joy. This is why sometimes we may even not be doing well in what we’re doing. That’s okay because we deserve to be happy. Even when we make mistakes or go wrong, we can change to improve. Try to be as forgiving as possible and try to leave everything else out. Maybe it’s necessary to do nothing at all, maybe it’s necessary to wait for a few days for the work to finish. Whatever you do, don’t ever take a break, but try not to give up. Take pride in the hard work you’ve put in. Have faith that in spite of everything the universe is trying to destroy, things will eventually work out. We need to stay focused on what matters, on what we have. Keep holding on to a positive attitude and remember that everything.
